The SOUND4 IMPACT FM .CL optionally integrates µMPX technology. It enables the transport of a complete MPX signal over IP (including the L/R signal, stereo pilot, and RDS data) from the studio to one or several transmitters, over networks with bandwidth constraints, while maintaining signal quality and peak control. 

On the transmitter side, a simple compatible µMPX decoder (such as the DEVA DB95 RX) will directly feed the transmitter, no other device is necessary! 

The major advantage is that you control your sound directly from the studio, and this same sound will be delivered exactly as is to each transmitter.

SOUND4 IMPACT FM .CL is the only big FM processor designed for high density applications. When our competitors can run just 4 to 6 instances on big and costly architectures, we can run 30! 

How can we do this? We are not resting on the floor of the operating system so far from the low-level possibilities, we are using directly instructions offered by the CPU's, remind that we are coming from hardware products using strongest DSP's coded only in assembly for the maximum of efficiency. 

Virtualization at SOUND4SOFT is not using conventional software on virtualized platforms, we are definitively not thinking like this! The average CPU usage is 950 MHz, though this varies depending on the selected presets and activated options.

Applications

This product is perfect for FM radio stations that want to send their signal to transmitters over IP using the µMPX option. Note: RDS encoder is included. Additionally, IMPACT FM .CL can simultaneously feed streaming for webradio applications. Kantar Media watermarking technology is also available as an option. IMPACT FM .CL comes with Windows driver I/O support, ASIO Windows driver connectivity, and DLL integration capabilities. The AoIP version supports AES67, Ravenna, Livewire, and Dante-AES connections.

 

Typical CPU use

The processing engine consumes 950 MHz. Typically and with a headroom for security, a user will be able to run 30 IMPACT .CL on a 16 cores processor running at 5 GHz. Of course, this depends on the processor's generation, activated options and preset used. Virtualized SOUND4 products are compatible with Intel & AMD, and recently ARM, we always recommend the latest generations of processors for the best results in terms of capacities.

 

OS Compatible

On Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2019, Server 2022), IMPACT FM .CL supports Virtual Driver, ASIO, and native DLL engine for software integrations. The AoIP version is supporting AES67, Ravenna, Livewire, and Dante-AES and runs exclusively on Linux Debian, compatible with both conventional PCs/servers and Raspberry Pi 5. The native DLL is also available for Linux systems.
